Agnes
Agatha, Mary, Lucy, Agnes
This triangular shaped painting is part of a bigger apse piece, situated in the top right corner of the ceiling dome. Lucy looks downward toward the altar. She sits on the clouds, her right hand on her chest and her left arm extended outwards. In her left hand is a candlestick, with an eye where the flame would appear. Due to her hagiography, Lucy is usually depicted with her eyes. Her martyrdom shown as a flame is symbolic of how her faith shines as a light in the darkness, always pointing others toward Christ.
