Helena of constantinople
Helena of Constantinople
This piece is a relief on Ivory illustrating different scenes, one being a trial by bitter water. The piece originated in the Eastern Mediterranean during the late sixth-century. Numbers 5: 5-31 contains a description of the Israelite process to consider if a wife had been adulterous. Could this ceremony actually demonstrate divine justice and mercy as a gift from a loving God?
