Apollonia Flagellation
Apollonia Dispute
There are numerous fingers being pointing in this panel scene, yet the eye is immediately drawn to the one belonging to Apollonia herself. While numerous persecutors are pointing her out as a Christian who ignores the decree to sacrifice to false gods, she
confidently points directly at the halo around her head. She is confident in her decision to not renounce the name of the Lord. The artist portrays her with a muscular arm. Her stance in the popular Renaissance art contrapposto pose conveys confident movement.
Apollonia was strong in her faith and her unrelenting resolve to honor Christ through her suffering.
