The Martydom of Saint Apollonia
Mary Magdelene
Apollonia is forcefully brought before a king/royal figure by her accusers. The viewer is witnessing the man in yellow announcing her refusal to renounce her faith and the royal representative seems to be directing her to the jail entrance in the background. Apollonia is
not struggling or protesting. She exhibits virtue and courage in the face of a probable death sentence.
