Adam and Eve Expelled from the Garden
Tamar and Judah
When Hagar was pregnant with Ishmael, Sarah treated Hagar harshly. After being sent into the wilderness by her mistress, Hagar encountered an angel who told her to go back to Sarah, and who provided her with her unborn son’s name, Ishmael, along with prophetic words that comforted her. It was after this encounter that Hagar realized that she had encountered the Lord and named him El-roi, “the God who sees me” (Gen 16:7–13).
